Located in West Central British Columbia, these two communities of Anahim Lake and Nimpo Lake are the gateway to Tweedsmuir Park. The Chilcotin Plateau is surrounded by magnificent mountain ranges, including the Coastal Mountain Range to the west and south. This area offers world-class freshwater fishing for native Rainbow Trout as well as river fishing for Salmon and Steelhead. The Blackwater and Dean Rivers are world famous for fly-fishing, while Anahim Lake, Charlotte Lake, and Nimpo Lake offer some of the best lake fishing British Columbia has to offer. Many of the local resorts and lodges offer fabulous fishing on remote lakes accessible only by floatplane.
So little of the habitat has been disturbed by man in this vast wilderness that wildlife is abundant and provides plenty of opportunity for wildlife photography.
This land is a geological wonder, with snowcapped peaks, huge glaciers, alpine valleys full of wild flowers, plunging waterfalls and remote lakes full of fish for those anglers that want a special treat.

Nimpo Lake is considered the 'Floatplane Capital' of BC so there's lots of opportunity to go flightseeing. Since so much of this vast wilderness is inaccessible to man, the best way to see it is from a float plane! Tweedsmuir Park forms the western and northern boundary of the West Chilcotin. Here you will find a wide variation from majestic mountain peaks and high alpine valleys, sweeping mountains formed of age old mineral deposits in glorious reds, oranges, and yellows that gave the Rainbow Mountains their name, to a rainforest type environment near sea level supporting a whole new range of flora and fauna. The park supports an extensive trail system, offers Salmon fishing on the Atnarko and Bella Coola River system, and canoeing on the Turner Lake Chain. It also has one of the largest grizzly bear populations in British Columbia, so take your camera!
